Helping Local Farmers & Reducing Waste

As we would like to reduce waste as much as possible, with snack production comes food waste. To minimize actual food waste, we provide local farmers in Dixon our unseasoned product waste. Local farmers bring this food waste back to their farms and grind them to smaller pieces and mix them up with the normal diet for their goats and pigs. This reduces our waste amount significantly. We have started this program in May of 2009 and since then we have donated 1.5 tons of food waste to our farmers every other week. This process creates a win-win situation for the farmers (free food for their livestock) and Calbee (reduce waste amount).
